The Apache web server uses the mod_imagemap Apache module to process server-side imagemap files. The most common file extension for imagemap files is the .map extension.


Use the mod_imagemap Apache module to process server-side imagemap files. 


This module has no requirements.


This module has no known compatibility issues.

How to install or uninstall mod_imagemap

The EasyApache profiles do not provide the mod_imagemap Apache module by default.

To install or uninstall the mod_imagemap Apache module, perform the following steps:

  1. Navigate to WHM's EasyApache 3 interface (Home >> Software >> EasyApache 3).


    • To access EasyApache from the command line interface, run the /scripts/easyapache script as the root user.
    • For more information on EasyApache, read our Apache Module: ImageMap documentation.
  2. Select the profile that you wish to modify.

  3. Click the  icon that corresponds to your selection.

  4. Click Next Step in the Apache Version stage.
  5. Click Next Step in the PHP Version stage.
  6. Click Exhaustive Options List in the Short Options List stage.
  7. Perform one of the following actions in the Exhaustive Options List stage:
    • To install the mod_imagemap Apache module, select the Imagemap option.
    • To uninstall the mod_imagemap Apache module, deselect the Imagemap option.
  8. Click Save and Build.

After your EasyApache build completes, cPanel users can use cPanel's Apache Handler interface (Home >> Advanced >> Apache Handler) to add the imap-file handler for the file extensions that they wish to use for imagemap files.


  • To configure your Apache web server to handle a file extension with the mod_imagemap module for all domains on your server, use WHM's Apache Module: ImageMap interface ( Home >> Service Configuration >> Apache Configuration >> Global Configuration >> Include Editor ).
  • For information on how to specify which file extensions with the mod_imagemap Apache module, view the Vendor documentation section.

How to enable or disable the module in a custom EasyApache profile file

The following table contains the module information that EasyApache stores in the profile file for the module:

To enable or disable the mod_imagemap  Apache module in a custom EasyApache profile file, set the Apache::optmods::Imagemap profile entry to one of the following values:

  • 1 - This value enables the module.
  • 0 - This value disables the module.
